Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about SEAI grants and the application process.

Am I eligible for SEAI grants?

To be eligible for SEAI grants, your home must:

  • Be located in the Republic of Ireland
  • Have been built and occupied before 2011 (for most grants)
  • Have a valid BER certificate before and after works
  • Not have received SEAI grants for the same measures previously

How do I apply for SEAI grants?

As an SEAI registered contractor, we can handle the entire application process for you. We'll guide you through the required documentation, submit the application on your behalf, and ensure all technical requirements are met.

How are grant payments made?

For most grants, the grant amount is deducted from your final invoice. We claim the grant amount directly from SEAI after the work is completed and all requirements are met. This means you only pay the net cost (total cost minus the grant amount).

How long does the grant application process take?

The grant application process typically takes 2-4 weeks from submission to approval. Once approved, the grant offer is valid for 8 months, during which time the work must be completed.

Can I combine multiple grants?

Yes, you can combine multiple grants for different energy efficiency measures. In fact, ventilation grants are only available when combined with insulation measures. The SEAI encourages homeowners to take a "whole-house approach" to energy efficiency.
